File relates to Michael McDonagh’s unsuccessful application for a military service pension in respect of his claimed service with the Irish Volunteers and the IRA for part of the periods between 1 April 1917 and 30 September 1923.
Claims that he was a member of Castlebar Company and that he took part in raids for arms, dispatch work. During the War of Independence applicant claims that he was involved in activities in County Mayo: blocked roads; dispatch work. Claims that in the Truce period he was on guard in barracks. During the Civil War McDonagh again claims he carried dispatches and blocked roads.
