Scope and Content File relates to the efforts of the Office of the Referee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934 to ascertain the strength of 3 Battalion, 1 Brigade (North Sligo), 3 Western Division, IRA on the first and second critical dates – 11 July 1921 and 1 July 1922 respectively – to assist in the processing of military service pension applications received under that legislation. This Battalion covered parts of counties Leitrim and Donegal and the records on file relate primarily to 1 July 1922. According to material on file, this Battalion was known as 10 Battalion, Sligo Brigade, IRA on 11 July 1921. As well as the names of those concerned, membership listings on file may also include: addresses; whether interned/imprisoned; whether deceased; references to membership of the National Army/Defence Forces, Gárda Síochána; military service pension file references.
