Scope and Content |
File relates to the efforts of the Office of the Referee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934 to ascertain the strength of 1 Battalion, 1 Brigade, 4 Northern Division, IRA on the first and second critical dates – 11 July 1921 and 1 July 1922 respectively – to assist in the processing of military service pension applications received under that legislation.
This battalion covered parts of counties Louth and Armagh and the material on file relates primarily to 1 July 1922 as it did not exist in this form on 11 July 1921.
